No.20 Wemyss Private Railway
Built by Andrew Barclay in 1939 (Works No.2068).
One of Britain’s largest 0-6-0 designs and used on the extensive Weymss Private Railway system in East Fife.
This Engine is in poor mechanical condition although it is hoped that the boiler should only need a re-tube. There are several cracks in the frames which will need to be repaired and the trailing axle is below scrapping size. A spare set of axles complete with new tyres is in stock for this engine. These wheel sets have had the journals skimmed and tyres profiled.
The dismantling is well under way with the boiler stripped and lifted out of the frames. The motion and brake gear has now been removed and the loco has been prepared for lifting the frames off the wheel sets.
