BR Standard Tank 80105:- The boiler has been inspected and steam tested and we now have an extension of the boiler ticket until September 2010. New driving axle springs have been fitted and the engine has been transported to the Wensleydale Railway where it will operate the steam service over the next six weeks or so.

LNER D49 Morayshire:- LNER 'Morayshire' now has fully functioning sanding gear and will be available for special events being held over the weekend of the 15th March. Its boiler is due an inspection and steam test before the 15th April.

No. 7:- All the eccentric straps have been machined to eliminate excessive wear with the LH still to be assembled and fitted to the axle assembly. The crosshead slippers have been machined but some faces will have to be redone due to poor adhesion to the some parts of the cast face. Its been a bit of a steep learning curve but we now know how to do it right! Eddie who has spent a lot of time machining the slippers is threatening to go back to sea if he has to do them all again! A jig/tool has been made for lapping the cylinder valve faces but the task will still be very laborious. A tool for machining the big end journals in situ has been located and this work will be our next task. The new Big end bearings are being cast and are due shortly.

No.1:- The boiler is also due an inspection and steam test before the 15th April. Routine maintenance is being carried out with particular attention being given to the injectors.

Austerity No. 19:- The axle has been inspected and the journals are in good condition and will not need machining.

Fairmaid:- Adjustment of the horn guides has now been completed. The next task is to fit the axles and motion. One pair of eccentric straps will need machined to resolve excessive play.

Sentinel Ranald :- work continues to complete the engine with small brackets being made and various cab fittings secured.

CR 419:- as BR 55189 has performed very well during its week of photo charters. Its last outing before its boiler ticket expires will be the 7th March when there will be an opportunity to photograph 80105 and 55189 together outside the shed. There will be a special members only train to Manual leaving at 12.30 hauled by 55189. Limited edition signed prints in A3 of a water colour painting by Rod Harrison will be available on the day with all proceeds going to the locomotive restoration.

General:- There has been a bit of a shunt in the workshop to create more space for working on the Austerity wheel sets and the redundant space heater has been removed and the bespoke pendulum grinder prepared for removal.
