t's been a while again!. The website has had a major revamp, as you can see, and now includes a forum as well as means to donate and purchase directly through the web site. This later feature is in test at present and should be operational shortly. Please use the forum or e-mail me with suggestions or any queries re the revised layout.
BR Standard Tank 80105:- The engine has performed very well at Wensleydale although there are a couple of minor maintenance related issues to address before it will be back in service at Bo'ness. The main regulator stuffing box seal packing needs replaced and the rear rocking grate mechanism needs to be repaired along with routine maintenance issues.
LNER D49 Morayshire:- The engine is in service and running well..
No. 7:- Progress is being made with axle boxes and springs now ready to be hung on the trailing and leading axles. Lapping of the valve seats is complete. The front buffer beam is being painted prior to fitting. Work on the boiler has now started with replacement of wasted plate in the smoke box in complete. The exterior of the boiler is being wire brush mopped and repainted. The tube plate has been cleaned up and ready for the repairs to the nicked tube holes . Work on the new smoke box door continues. The next big milestone with this project will be the re-wheeling which should take place around the end of September.
Austerity No. 19:- No progress at this time
Fairmaid:- The engine has now had its rear wheel set fitted and the front set ready to fit.
Sentinel Denis:- A further steam test has been carried out and the engine ran well although there are some small steam leaks still to address.
CR 419:- Work is under way on the dismantling of the locomotive in preparation for its major boiler work and axle box replacement..
