Despite the bad weather volunteer turnout has continued to improved recently with significant progress made on Morayshire in particular.
No.7 is in service and is working the Santa specials. Still some finishing off to be done including chimney cover, spark arrester and fitting makers plates etc. which will have to wait until the new year.
No.1 is operational for light duties (Steam heating for the Santas) although from this weekend the steam heating van is now in use.
CR 419 :- Repairs to the damaged cylinder block casting and fettling of the driving axle horn guides is in progress but very slowly due to the effort to get Morayshire back together.
LNER 'Morayshire':- Now reassembled and on the rolling road ready for the next task of valve timing.
'Fair Maid' :- No progress.
Prestongrange No.6: Operational.
Austerity No. 19:- The engine is now re-wheeled and progress is being made refitting the underkeeps etc. A set of springs has been selected for the engine and the hanger pin holes have been bored ready for bushes to be fitted. Valve spindles have been sent out to be spiral welded and returned to new size. Machining of the new big end brasses and re-metalling of the cross-head slippers etc about to get underway. In order to facilitate the work on the boiler we are trying to get it into the shed shortly.
No.20:- No progress at the present time.
Richbourgh:- Cylinder and valve chest covers removed for inspection. Cab floor being fitted.
